Swish Swish: Regular Season Recap
#1: My Name Is (Slim) Sykes (9–2) PF: 7756 / PA: 5910
James’s crew was a machine all year — built around positional flexibility, veteran anchors, and defensive dogs. Kelsey Plum fueled the offense with efficient high-volume scoring, while Gabby Williams, Jacy Sheldon, and Ariel Atkins swarmed the perimeter on defense. The two-way brilliance of Breanna Stewart kept them cruising — until her late-season injury cast a shadow on the playoff run.
Strategy: The league’s best combination of scoring depth and steal-block threats. Stewie’s absence may be catastrophic, but this team still has enough firepower and defense to win on any given week. Brittney Sykes remains the X-factor.
#2: On Cloud 9 in NYC (8–3) PF: 6834 / PA: 5953
Hannah’s squad was the most resilient roster in the league — a chameleon that kept adapting and winning. Aliyah Boston brought consistency, Paige Bueckers lit it up in spurts, and Natasha Cloud logged huge minutes and stat lines. But this team’s true strength came from its depth: Veronica Burton, Alanna Smith, and Kamilla Cardoso stepped up week after week when injuries struck.
Strategy: Defensive grit and playmaking glue held this squad together. With Bueckers surging late and Boston anchoring the frontcourt, On Cloud 9 floats into the postseason with championship-level vibes.
#3: Phoenix’s Order (8–3) PF: 7885 / PA: 6727
Saoirse’s spellcasters summoned buckets all season. Jewell Loyd, Rhyne Howard, and Rickea Jackson headlined one of the most dangerous perimeter attacks in the league. But it wasn’t just offense — Emma Meesseman quietly filled up every category, and DeWanna Bonner delivered big in clutch weeks.
Strategy: Pure firepower. No team scared opponents more on a hot night. The challenge: consistency. Howard and Jackson had up-and-down spells, but if the stars align in the playoffs, they can absolutely burn through anyone.
#4: TeamBucketsJP (7–4) PF: 6874 / PA: 6284
Justin’s team hit their stride midseason thanks to elite guard play and opportunistic pickups. Alyssa Thomas stuffed stat sheets like a machine, while Maddy Siegrist emerged as a scoring gem. Injuries and inconsistency from Chelsea Gray and Skylar Diggins made things bumpy, but Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham kept the backcourt steady.
Strategy: High-usage guards and rebounding-focused forwards. When AT is clicking and the guards shoot efficiently, this team can put up playoff-worthy point totals in a hurry.
#5: Maddie’s Money Moves (6–5) PF: 6542 / PA: 6492
Mads assembled the league’s sneakiest-good squad — loaded with do-everything players like Dearica Hamby, Satou Sabally, and Kayla McBride, each capable of 30+ fantasy nights. Temi Fagbenle and Julie Allemand held things down when injuries hit. This team didn’t blow you out — they just consistently outlasted you.
Strategy: Depth over stars. Maddie’s rotation played like a jazz ensemble — smooth, flexible, and hard to stop when in rhythm. They were one trade or breakout away from being a true title contender.
The deepest frontcourt in the league belonged to Devin, with Nneka Ogwumike, Azura Stevens, Ezi Magbegor, and Shakira Austin (pre-injury) holding it down. Arike Ogunbowale’s injury was brutal, but Leonie Fiebich and DiJonai Carrington became legitimate fantasy starters.
Strategy: Defense, boards, and bigs. This team had size, swats, and second-chance points galore. Had Arike stayed healthy, they’d probably be 8–3 and terrifying right now.
#7: Goldilocks (5–6) PF: 6332 / PA: 6290
Garren’s team had top-tier star power in A’ja Wilson, Jackie Young, and Kahleah Copper — a literal Team USA-style core. But limited depth and some thin weeks from the bench let close matchups slip away. Natasha Mack and Sami Whitcomb provided decent streaming value, but it wasn’t enough to lock a playoff spot.
Strategy: Star-powered, but star-reliant. When A’ja and Jackie went off, Goldilocks looked unstoppable. But if they cooled even slightly, the lack of secondary scoring became a problem.
#8: Bantam Breeze (4–7) PF: 6237 / PA: 6314
Juice’s squad had the bones of a contender, but their season got body slammed by injuries to Angel Reese and Cameron Brink, who were poised for double-double dominance. Jonquel Jones and Brionna Jones filled in admirably, and Aneesah Morrow had a breakout second half. But the roster just couldn’t recover from its frontcourt collapses.
Strategy: Bully ball. Bantam Breeze was built for boards and blocks, but the missing pieces left them vulnerable on scoring nights. Still, the blueprint is promising — if everyone’s healthy next year, this team’s dangerous.
#9: Swimming with the Fishes (2–9) PF: 4742 / PA: 6461
Jackie’s team opened with high hopes — Caitlin Clark, Brittney Griner, and Naz Hillmon looked ready to lead. But injuries hit early, with Clark sidelined almost the entire season. Dana Evans had her moments, and Dominique Malonga flashed big upside, but the roster was too thin to tread water in such a competitive league.
Strategy: Built for buckets but undone by timing. The front office clearly had a vision, but the injury gods said “nah.” A lottery season, but not a hopeless one.
#10: Lizzie’s Loud Team (0–11) PF: 3950 / PA: 6984
The Loud Team just never found its rhythm. Sabrina Ionescu was the clear top option, but her inconsistency and limited help from the rest of the squad — Aaliyah Edwards, Lexie Hull, and Emily Engstler — meant Lizzie was constantly fighting uphill. Add in the lowest PF in the league, and the record speaks for itself.
Strategy: Constant rotation, but no breakout stars. This team needed one or two players to pop, and it just didn’t happen. A tough year, but a top draft pick awaits.
