Swish Swish: RD1 Postseason Matchups 2025

#1 My Name Is (Slim) Sykes vs #4 TeamBucketsJP

Slim Sykes dominated the regular season behind a loaded two-way roster led by Kelsey Plum, Gabby Williams, and the injured-but-looming Breanna Stewart. Their defense suffocates and their scoring comes from everywhere — when healthy, they’re near unbeatable.

But TeamBucketsJP is gritty and opportunistic. Alyssa Thomas does everything, and if Siegrist or Kelsey Mitchell gets hot, they can push the top seed. If Stewie is limited, this one’s wide open.

#2 On Cloud 9 in NYC vs #3 Phoenix’s Order

This is discipline vs chaos. Aliyah Boston and Natasha Cloud anchor Cloud 9’s defense and control the tempo, while Paige Bueckers brings the late-season scoring burst.

Phoenix’s Order is pure flamethrower energy — Jewell Loyd, Rickea Jackson, and Rhyne Howard can drop 90 combined on any night. If Cloud 9 can’t contain the backcourt, this could be an early exit for the #2 seed.

#5 Maddie’s Money Moves (6–5) vs #8 Bantam Breeze (4–7)

Aneesha Morrow vs Dearica Hamby is the frontcourt duel to watch, but with Reese and Brink out, Juice’s squad is short-handed. Mads should roll unless Brionna Jones goes nuclear.

#6 Dev-E-I (6–5) vs #7 Goldilocks (5–6)

A’ja Wilson and Jackie Young headline for Garren, but Devin’s frontcourt is a fortress — Nneka, Ezi, and Azura can win boards and blocks outright. This might be the most even of the lower-bracket matchups.

#9 Swimming with the Fishes (2–9) vs #10 Lizzie’s Loud Team (0–11)

Caitlin Clark vs Sabrina Ionescu… if only they both played all year. Lizzie’s team has the lowest PF in the league, but if Clark stays cold, Jackie might grab her first W at the buzzer.
